Fiske Planetarium
TICKETS

Join Mira Devi & Friends, with special guest Dr. John Keller, for an evening of live music, stories, conversation, and connection. A full spectrum, live music experience, from soothing to grooving, will combine with Sanskrit mantras and cosmic visuals for a multi-sensory tapestry of healing.

Along the way, Mira and John will explore the connection between science and spirituality. Mira will share stories about the chants from her studies in yoga and meditation, while John will drop some amazing facts about astronomy and the universe. Feel free to chant along, get up and dance, or sit back to enjoy the sounds and sights. Mira Devi’s band will offer up an east/west fusion of Hindu and Buddhist inspired mantras, sonic soundscapes, singing bowls, guitar, harmonium, dilruba, hammered dulcimer, sitar, and tablas...all while soaring through the universe! Come along with us as we journey to the depths of the heart and the furthest reaches of the cosmos. All are warmly welcome. No experience necessary.

Band features Noah Rouse Wilson IV on dilruba and sitar, Stephen Bross on tablas, Susanna Miniciello on harmonium and vocals, and Paul Rakestraw on bass.

No backpacks or large purses will be allowed into the theater. We reserve the right to search all bags.

Tickets: $20 (Members save 25%)

Note: Online deals such as Groupon, Living Social, Fiske Vouchers, and any other discount coupons WILL NOT be accepted.

More about Mira Devi: Mira Devi is a kirtan artist, singer/songwriter, and healer whose journey has been inspired by eastern philosophy for over twenty years. A lifelong musician, Mira spent a decade at Shoshoni Yoga Retreat, an ashram near Boulder. There she was introduced to the practice of chanting, and she recorded several CDs of original music with the ashram band, Shiva’s Garden. A certified Ayurvedic Counselor, Certified Yoga Teacher, and Licensed Massage Therapist, Mira integrates the contemplative, healing, and performing arts through chanting events, live performances, yoga workshops, and Ayurvedic bodymind therapies. She has been creating, recording, and sharing sacred music for many years. Find out more at FB Mira Devi Music.

Dr. John Keller is the Director of Fiske Planetarium and a faculty member in Astrophysical and Planetary Sciences at CU Boulder. Growing up in Idaho, he has loved the night sky since he was young and still remembers his first planetarium experiences as a second grader. He received his PhD in Planetary Science from the University of Arizona where he worked for the NASA Mars Odyssey mission, and he currently runs a citizen science astronomy research effort with high school students and teachers across the western United States measuring objects out beyond Neptune. As the Director at Fiske, he is enthusiastic about supporting interdisciplinary collaborations involving science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics.
